We now leave a period behind us and look at some paintings from the years 1955/56. Much more color and
undoubtedly influenced by "COBRA" but not with the same intentions. "COBRA" was looking for, if not searching,
to get rid of the wars (and denied them at the same time) while another movement was looking
for freedom of spirit (there was still a war going on at that time in Algeria) that resulted in the end
in the so called "Informal Movement" which infact infiltrated the whole european world of art.
In Francec (Dubuffet, Wols, Fautrier), Spain (Tapiès) , in Belgium (Mark Verstockt), in The Netherlands
(Armando, Wim de Haan , Cor de Nobel, Jan Schoonhoven, Henk Peeters, Jaap Wagemaker, Peter Royen,
Tajoka, Theo Bennes)
. It is at least remarkable that The Netherlands were so broadly represented.
The painting now is in gallery Fred Wagemans in Beetsterzwaag, the Netherlands.

painting COR DE NOBEL

. This painting (size 57 x 61 cm, lacquer and oilpaint on hardboard, from 1955) by COR DE NOBEL was
for him a change to a way of even more freedom, that's to say, an absract way, and thus it is a landmark.
On the next page 2 small paintings from the same period form is still important, like color, but under
the influance of especially TAPIÈS (whom he met in '57), and after a trip in Spain, his work changed rapidly.
