This is the text to the
painting at the right. It is a work by COR DE NOBEL , who, among others, worked in the so called 'informal' style. Their glory days, at least in the Netherlands , were in the late fifties and early sixties. The painting is composed of paint, ashes, tar, stone, sand, and so on. Title: Hiroshima II. (Hiroshima I: Dordrechts Museum ) Year 1959. Size: 100 x 100 cm. |

COR DE NOBEL
started gallery
.31
in Dordrecht, because as an abstract painter at that time there was no
existing platform to exhibit
his
work. Nor those of his colleagues.
So he started his own gallery. The first exhibition took place
in October 1957 .
